Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020

It’s that time of the year again, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here! I wanted to start this off by saying, I know personally, this sale can be overwhelming. With so many people talking about this sale, you might find yourself feeling pressured into buying the latest and greatest pieces (I know I have before). What I’ve learned from shopping this sale the past few years is 1. buy items that you know you will wear/use over and over again and 2. use the sale to buy items you can gift to family/friends for Christmas and other celebrations. This is how I benefit most from shopping the sale and stick to my budget.

I love covering this sale for you guys and want to help be a one-stop-shop for you! There are so many pages of the sale to sift through, so I am using this post to share my curated “top picks” lists to eliminate that task for you. I will be using this post to round up my top picks in multiple categories: Women, Men, Baby, Home, Beauty, Shoes, and Accessories.

What Is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

Nordstrom offers brand new arrivals from top brands (Madewell, Vince Camuto, Tory Burch, Free People, Barefoot Dreams, etc) at sale prices for a limited time. This is the perfect time to stock up on quality pieces for Fall that you normally wouldn’t get on a discount so early in the season.

When Does the Sale Start / How to Shop?

Nordstrom cardmembers get to shop the sale before everyone else during Early Access. Depending on your Nordy Cardholder status you can shop the sale as early as August 4th (see diagram below for status dates). The sale will open to the public on August 19th and will end on August 30th with prices going back up on August 31st.

What’s New This Year: Instead of releasing the Nordstrom catalog as they have done in the past, they are giving everyone a chance to preview the sale! This will give you extra time to save your favorites to your Wish List so you can check out faster when it’s time to shop.

Tips on Shopping the Nordstrom Sale

Shop as early as possible – a lot of items will sell out fast! If you have a Nordstrom Card you get free shipping + rewards.
Double your rewards – If you are a Nordstrom Card Holder, schedule your double or triple points days for the day you are doing most of your shopping.
If you are unsure about how an item will fit – buy multiple sizes! The best part about shopping at Nordstrom is that they offer free returns.
Set a budget! It’s so easy to spend way more than you need to on this sale because there are a lot of great sale items.
Make a list of items you need. Go through your closet and identify items your wardrobe may be missing or items you need to replace. Having a game plan of what items I’m really looking to add to my wardrobe not only makes shopping the sale easier, but it helps me stick to my budget.
When in doubt – stick to the basics. If you are on a tight budget or really not sure what to buy, then stick with basic clothing items: long sleeve shirts, t-shirts, camis, cardigans, jeans, booties, etc. These are items you will definitely wear year after year and get the most use out of.
