Well it’s been a hot minute since I wrote my last blog post! I am not going to lie, after the holidays were over I was feeling so drained. I was constantly on the go and then we left right after for our two week Europe trip. It’s felt amazing to have a break but I am READY to get back into my routine.
I know I’m little late to the whole 2019 goals/resolutions thing since we’re three weeks into January, but hey better late than never! I like writing these kind of posts 1) to hold myself accountable and 2) to get real with you all on some personal goals this year. SO LETS GET TO IT…
DON’T FEEL BAD ABOUT DOWN TIME – RELAX!
I always feel like I have a million things on my “to-do” list and whenever I am finally done I sit down and start thinking of all the other things I should be doing. I need to get better about knowing I can’t do it all, especially in one day. There are things that can be pushed out to a later time and I need to get better at prioritizing and scheduling out my days so I don’t feel overwhelmed.
MORE ME TIME
I am just not good at taking time out for myself. Ever since I started this blogging journey 6 months ago I feel like I constantly have something to work on (editing pictures, blog posts, IG engagement, shopping new sales, etc). And it’s true..there always IS something I can work on but I need to start taking more time out for other things..like spending more time outside, reading a book, meditation. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE interacting and working on my blog, but you can’t always do the same thing over & over. It’s important to find other hobbies that spark joy.
BETTER MORNING ROUTINE
Who else rushes around in the morning like a crazy person?! I sadly give myself justttt enough time to make it to work in the morning and I’m not taking into account if there’s traffic or any other mishaps that might happen. So this year, I am going to start setting my alarm 30 minutes earlier in the morning to give myself enough time to get ready and not rush around like a mad woman! I want to start incorporating a short 5 minute meditation into my morning routine to get my mind in the right place and be able to sit down and enjoy breakfast + a cup of coffee.
SAVE MONEY FOR OUR DREAM HOME
We have lived in our home in FL for 4 years now and we are slowly starting to out grow it. We are planning to start a family soon and we know that it’s not going to be enough space. We are looking to move in the next 2 years so starting to save now will be a must since we have specific wants & needs for our next home that aren’t going to be cheap. I currently put money away into our savings each pay check but will be upping that to around $450 every two weeks. I will just have to buy less shoes…lol
TRAVEL
Dan & I have traveled to some amazing places last year and I want to make sure to continue this, even if it’s just a short getaway! Right now the only travel we have planned is for a friends wedding in April to Colorado. Some places I am trying to visit this year will be: Portland, Boston & Nashville (to visit my besties), Seattle, Charleston, and somewhere tropical!
BE MORE PRESENT
I’m known as THAT girl glued to her phone 24/7. I really want to change that this year and work on being more present and in the moment. When we were on our Europe trip I was HARDLY on my phone and just went on it at night for an hour or so when we were laying in bed. Now I know I can’t do this all the time since I love sharing things with you all but I need to get better at doing this at least a few times a week because everyone needs balance. We only get one life and no one wants to remember theirs by missing out on things because they were too busy scrolling through IG.
STOP COMPARING MYSELF
Who else does this daily? Well let’s make a pact to STOP together! I used to (& still do at times) scroll through IG and constantly compare myself to every girl or post I came across. I would think to myself “Why can’t my legs look that good?” or “how is their life so perfect?!” It’s times like that when I just need to put my phone down to remind myself that I am just as good and that no ones life is perfect. IG is just a highlight reel of everyone’s best moments and it’s not reality of what everyone’s life really looks like since there is SO MUCH that goes on behind the scenes. What I’ve started to do whenever I am feeling like this is write down (5) things I am grateful for at that moment. Whenever I take time to reflect on what I already have and all the positive surrounding me, all those other feelings just go away. I am continuing this, this year and I hope you do too!
MY 2019 BLOG GOALS:
- Get more creative with my posts
- Get to 18k in followers
- Write at least 1-2 blog posts each week
- Do more collaborations with brands I love
- Interact more in stories (try on sessions, day to day life stuff, etc.)
