BEST comfy travel outfit (shop this look below):
Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was low-key which is exactly what I needed after a month on the go! We spent Labor Day weekend in Savannah, GA and it was such a good mini-vacation. It’s the type of town where it feels like home and most places are walking distance from each other. Not to mention there are no laws on open containers. So, if you want to save money, buy alcohol ahead of time! You can put whatever you want to drink in a plastic cup and go into shops and stroll around town. Also, Savannah is an extremely Dog-Friendly city. We were able to bring Lola into many of the shops downtown, and some of them even gave her treats! Now let’s get into the rest of my Savannah recommendations…
Where to Stay//
We stayed at a VRBO on Liberty Street, which was a perfect location! It was only a 5-minute walk downtown to where all the shops and restaurants were located. The VRBO was through Lucky Savannah Rentals. If you go through them directly you could probably avoid some fees, so, unfortunately, we didn’t realize this until after we booked it.
**TIPS: If you’re driving or parking anywhere through the city, I highly recommend downloading the ParkSavannah mobile app from iTunes or Google Play. It allows you to pay your meter fee/ extend your time from your phone. So, no more having to sprint to your car because you totally forgot about the time limit! ALSO – another tip, do not bring many high heel shoes. It is very difficult to walk on the cobblestone paths, so bring a lot of cute shoes you feel comfortable walking in.
Where to Eat// Brunch + Dinner:
- The Collins Quarter – We went here for brunch. It’s an Australian restaurant/café that offers a great selection of food and fun brunch cocktails. I ordered the Biscuits Gone Wild, so if you love biscuits & gravy + eggs, it’s definitely a must-try! It offers a mix of sweet and savory, which is a perfect brunch combination in my opinion. They also have really good craft coffee.
- Funky Brunch Café – This was such a cool (colorful) spot! We also ate here for brunch. They have a “cook your own” pancakes option on griddles that are built into the tables! I ended up ordering the “Hangover Bowl”. Our waitress said that was one of the most popular brunch dishes so I had to give it a try. The verdict: it definitely did not disappoint. Let’s just say hash browns + a fried egg + cheese + sausage gravy = heaven!
- Flying Monk Noodle Bar– If you’re into Pho and other Asian Noodle dishes/soups, then this is your spot. I recommend the Tao Dumpling Soup – it was basically like ramen and wonton soup put together – so so good!
- Hueys On the River– This Southern Cafe was on River Street. It offers authentic New Orleans cuisine and it was amazing! Some of their most popular dishes are the Barbeque Shrimp appetizer and Crawfish Etoufee. Both were really good!
- Rocks on The Roof-This was a really nice Rooftop bar located on River Street. Make sure you go in time to watch the sunset. The cocktails are a little pricey but the view is worth it!
- The Vault Kitchen and Market– We went here for dinner and it’s south of downtown. I would describe this place as a chic Asian Fusion restaurant. They have craft cocktails and sushi as well. They did a great job with the ambiance and décor, so if you’re looking for a more romantic setting, this place is perfect. This restaurant was once an old banking institution that served Savannah for over 50 years! It was a landmark to the community, so after the bank closed, they turned it into this eatery (hence the name). What I ordered: Nickel Noodle Stir-fry which was amazing.
- Tequila Town– If you’re looking for Mexican this is the place. Wide variety of food and you have to get the table side guacamole! They make it right in front of you at your table.

Where to Eat// Coffee + Sweets:
- Blends – This was a really great coffee boutique. You can pick your own coffee beans from around the world.
- The Coffee Fox – Also a great place to stop for coffee.
- Savannah’s Candy Kitchen–They have the best chocolate covered pralines! If you’re not looking to buy anything, they will also give you free samples. There is a bunch of other candy that you can try there as well.
- River Street Sweets– Another great spot for some sweets! They have really good taffy and a huge selection of candy that you can take home. We were able to watch them make the taffy in real-time and also got some free samples.
- Leopolds Ice Cream– Unfortunately, we did not get to try this but I have heard it’s so good! Since we went on a holiday weekend the line was way too long. We ended up at Ben and Jerry’s instead, to be honest, so know that’s an option too if you don’t want to wait in line.
- Rocket Fizz Savannah– This shop has a huge selection of candy, bottled sodas, and more! If you are here definitely stop in. We bought some candy to go and also a delicious craft Root Beer.

Where to Shop//
- Spartina 449– If you’re a fan of Lilly Pulitzer or Kate Spade, you’ll more than likely enjoy the handbags, jewelry, and accessories found at this store.
- Nourish – This store was full of natural soaps and bath bombs. Perfect for anyone with sensitive skin too.
- Civvies | New & Recycled Clothing– This store was so different, which is what I loved about it! It had recycled clothing and accessories, styles ranging from the early 1900s to contemporary.
- 24e Design Co.– Unique furniture showroom.
- Dress Up– Trendy and affordable clothing boutique. They do not have a store here in Florida but found out they have an online store.
- Paris Market & Brocante– This was such a cool spot! It’s technically a store but also has a cafe with really good iced coffee and macaroons! It has furniture, jewelry, and other gifts that you can take home.
What to do// Historic Sites + Things to Do:
- Ghost Tour – We did the Haunted Savannah Tour and it was so good! It was a 90-minute tour with a tour guide that brought you around the historic district. You learn a lot about some of the buildings and history. It is a little scary as far as content goes, so I would not recommend bringing your younger children.
- Historic Site Tour – There are so many different tours in Savannah that simply go over historic buildings and the city. I highly recommend doing this too, just because there is so much history to Savannah. And when you walk around town it makes the experience that much better to know the background behind it all.
- Wormsloe Historic Site – Wormsloe is about 10 minutes out of town but definitely worth the drive. As soon as you step onto the property it feels like you went back in time 100 years. We went when there was a tour guide on site and it was a free tour. They go over what life was like back in the colonial days. There are wooded trails and great sights + it’s dog friendly!
- Forsyth Park– It’s a large (30 acre) dog friendly city park in the historic district of Savannah. It has walking paths, a children’s play area, a gorgeous fountain, and Tennis/Basketball courts. Make sure to wear something comfortable and put on some walking appropriate shoes!
- River Street– It has 200 year old cobblestones and over 70 businesses to check out.
- City Market – Has a collection of interesting shops, restaurants and stores. This is where the Savannah Candy Kitchen was located.
- Savannah Smiles Dueling Pianos– This place was so much fun! They have live performances on Thurs – Sat 8:30p – 2:30am, Wed 8p – 2am. They have TV’s to watch sports games and also take reservations for large parties. This would be perfect for a bachelor or bachelorette weekend! They do charge a cover to come in.
